Located in a restored 19th century home, the historical society is a great place to learn more about local history. Visitors to the museum can tour exhibits and tour the home and gardens of the Count. Afterwards, visit the museum’s library and museum. You’ll be glad you did.

The Richard L. Strickler Research Center offers a variety of information to help visitors plan their visit. A list of holdings is available at the information kiosk. For additional information, you can visit their genealogical links or browse the collections of the Alexander Library, which houses the society’s archives. The website also provides news articles, legislative alerts, and a store where patrons can purchase historical records. Visitors can purchase books and other materials at the online bookstore.

The Ocean County Museum is another great place to learn about local history. Located in downtown Toms River, this museum is operated by the Ocean County Historical Society. The museum is home to a vast collection of historical artifacts and documents, and is free to visit. Guided tours are held Tuesdays, Thursdays, and the first Saturday of the month. If you have some time to spare, you can spend some time at the local library. The Ocean County Historical Society is located at Hadley Avenue in Toms River, NJ, and can be found on a map. There are 8 external resources related to Ocean County Historical Society. They are available to the public via the Ocean Ride bus, so that you can use them to travel to other parts of the county. There are also bike trails in the town. If you’re planning to visit the museum, be sure to schedule an appointment.

The earliest history of the town is murky. Some sources cite English captain William Tom as the eponym, but the real truth is that Thomas Luker was a local farmer. Both men operated a ferry across the creek that is now known as Goose Creek. The area became a bustling center for shipbuilding, whaling, and iron production during the 19th century. Today, the town is a cultural and recreational hub for the whole region.

For those who enjoy history, Toms River offers a variety of activities. A walking tour through downtown Toms River takes about an hour, without stops. It starts at the Toms River Township Municipal Building, where there are generally publications and general interest guides. During your stay, you may want to join one of the walking tours of the historic waterfront. These walks will point out some of the historic houses along East Water Street.

Cattus Island County Park offers 530 acres of scenic views of the Barnegat Bay. At the same time, you can explore the town’s local parks and trails. For example, you can visit Huddy Park, a historic park in the heart of downtown Toms River. You can also take a picnic or a stroll in Silverton Park, which features a playground. At the other end of the town, you can enjoy the waterfront on a sunset cruise on the River Lady. Click here for more.

10/10 would recommend. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left everyone was very friendly. I felt the staff did a great job explaining my insurance benefits, what was covered, what wasn't. And all the costs prior to doing anything. Both Lauren and Dr Monica we very pleasant, and although dental work is never enjoyable they both made me feel very comfortable.
